Summer Internship and updates

For the summer of 2015, I will be interning for a PR/Marketing company called Public NYC. I'm excited and of course, a little nervous! I hope that it'll be a great experience to learn from and gain connections.

As for my current work, I've been focusing on web design this semester and dabbling in interior architecture to learn more about space and interaction to gain familiarity in my father's field of work. Over the summer, I will be photographing sites and updating my Dad's company website on my free time.

These are some of the things I've been working on for web design:

(These sites are still in progress and due on May 8th, the final day of the semester!)

Skidmore Gallery      Mockup

Skidmore Gallery is a big and tedious coding project for my web design class, and my partner is Vandita Dhoot. In the initial stages of creating mockups, the both of us and our teacher decided to go with my design mockup.

This project from my Intermediate Typography class took up most of my semester so far. I have been working on this for more than a month. This is a glimpse of my development, and the final product at the end. The final product was printed on an epson 11880 printer on  validation matte paper, at 20 x 30 inches. It will be on display for about a week!

Generative Typography Alphabet Set

Step two of my final project: create a full alphabet set with the code I generated. The next step is to make words!

Designed Resume

You may click on it to enlarge it.

After my sophomore seminar class today, I was told that March-May is when companies are looking for beginner designers and artists to join their team. I guess I'm applying for internships at the right time then! I designed my resume last week, and applied to internships throughout this week. I'm continuing to apply as I see more opportunities come up. Wish me luck! New York City is a competitive city for sure!

For my processing class, we learned generative typography today! It was pretty fun experimenting with the program and generating text. This is probably the beginning stage of my final project--to create a custom designed alphabet using the processing program.  I was thinking of experimenting with the line itself, maybe have inconsistent lines or nonlinear squiggles. Yes, I said squiggles. As it is, it's quite modern looking and clean. I like it already, but I'd like to experiment with the idea of roots and organic elements, using binary algorithms.

Packaging Sculpture

Henry Moore's Large Interior Form

(This image doesn't belong to me, thank you google images.)

I'm currently working on "Packaging Sculpture" , an assignment for my Package Design class. The objective is to create something for a patron of the arts, someone who is familiar with this sculpture. This item has to be portable, and like a reminder or a memorabilia (not a souvenir). I'm having trouble with color choices. I'm currently working on a green palette, maybe that'll work out better. These shapes are the interior shapes of the sculpture that give us an idea of the exterior, so this is what this accordion book represents.

I am currently working on my motion graphics piece for tomorrow. I need to have one scene transition done- the revealing of the house under the box cover. After Effects is a tricky program, but I believe it'll prove beneficial to me in the future!
